The Board of the Scottish Modern Pentathlon Association wishes to advise members that following an external review of the structure and activities of the organisation, it has been resolved to commence the process to have the organisation voluntarily removed from the register at Companies House following which the Scottish Modern Pentathlon Association will formally cease to exist.
Members are advised that, in place of the Scottish Modern Pentathlon Association, a new organisation, “Pentathlon Scotland” will be established as a Company Limited by Guarantee as the Governing Body for the sport in Scotland.
This process will be supported by sportscotland’s Expert Resource legal advisers, Harper Macleod LLP with the appropriate governance documentation and structure in place.
A new competency based Board will be established to lead the sport forward through an open application process.
Role descriptions for Director positions on the new Board and details of how to apply to become a member of the Board will be available for distribution shortly and it is to be hoped that those with an interest in supporting and developing Modern Pentathlon in Scotland will apply for these positions.
In a further development the Board also wish to advise members that Bob Reekie has stood down from the position of Chair with immediate effect.
The remaining Board members would wish to put on record their sincere thanks for all the hard work Bob has contributed to the sport over 28 years of involvement in promoting and raising awareness of Modern Pentathlon.
